Hey guys
been a few days and muchos has happened, had 2 great days climbing in Sella. Love it there can see us spending a fair bit of time there in the near and distant future.
Had a really good day myself on saturday when i managed my first 7b onsight called Kamikazi took a massive amount of effort and commitment i though i was off on many occasions, managed to pull myself through the
crux and was stairing at the jug of glory when both my feet popped off with my hands on the worst crimps, mannaged to hold it together to clip the chains, done. Lucy had a really good days climbing with a few really good onsights. which enabled us to top off the day in style with some cold beers.
Sunday we woke up to bitter cold and quickly put the heating on a later start saw us venture out into the cold the sun took pitty on us for around a hour and we soaked up its warmth then alas it was gone forever hidden behing the dirty clouds and leaving a bitter wind in its place. Having Bouldered out and put the quickdraws up on a climb i was fairly sure that it wouldnt go as was super thin and sustained + relied on a super sharp crimp that ate my skin. I was torn of wether to go for it. After some choise encouragement from lucy i conceded to try and send it. The cold came in more and we were freezing unfortunatly the climb shared its start with another climb a few spannish guys were trying we couldnt run back to the van as our quickdraws were still up, we endured the coldest 30 minutes waiting for them to be done then it was my turn. I mentaly went through the move then Plucking up some courage i set off speading through the first 2/3rds im at the rest but the longer i stay there the colder my fingers become, i launch into the 9 metre crux. I use a totaly different sequence to what i worked out and magicaly i make it to the top "Kina Borregada" - SENT
Cowering inthe van we chill and decide on a rest day for monday.
Monday came and we decide to go for a walk to the top of the Puig Campana the local mountain that towers 1410m over the town of finestrat. Having packed some water and a few bananas we figure out that it aint really a rest day activity. with over 1000m of height difference between our starting place and the top, it takes us a good 5 hours to get there and back passing up and down the longest scree slope that goes on and on and on up a gully. We eventualy get to the top and are greated buy what looks to be lots of bushes in flower, however on closer inspection its savage frost and ice that stuck to everything, Its so bitter and cold up here. we take a few photos and head back.
On the way up we passed 2 old guys that we thought didnt have a hope of getting to the top, on our way back down we meet them around half a mile from the summet and have a quick chat it turns out there french and one is 70something and the other 80something. funny thing is when we met them on the way up they had some teenagers with them probably there grandsons alas they werent there at the top amazing. The yoof of today.
Well thats it from us over and out.
Wow Photos are fab, can see why you like it there, never seen frost/ice like that. AND you call that a rest day, maybe for your fingers !!!
